Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

It would seem that the beginning of the end is about to happen with the news today that Amazon.com has invested in Wikia, the San Mateo for-profit wiki company co-founded by Jimmy Wales, one of the brains behind online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Amazon did not disclose the size of its investment. But, in the words of “Man of the Year” Jeff Bezos… “Amazon has always believed in giving the customer as much information as possible so that they can make the purchase that's best for them, we want to support the continued growth of sites like Wikia, which has cracked the code for user-generated content.'' OK Jeffo, does that mean you are about to start paying of the mountain of debt you have accumulated over the last several years, whilst funding your Texas “Space Station Launch Base” in that great Gun totin’ state? It would be a shame to see one of the great Internet resources go down the drain for the sake of yet another of those almighty Amazon customer base building fantasies.
