In the last week or so, a lot of people on various ad blogs have been getting their knickers in a twist about an ad for Lego that came out of china, and shows the burning Twin Tower buildings from 9/11, and more or less hinting that you could re-build them with Lego blocks, or something equally stupid. Anyway, lots of people got upset that someone should use such a disturbing visual to sell their products... Yeah, 'cos we ad folks would never descend to something that crass, right? Anyway, turns out the people responsible, Black Wu and Darren Cheung, have owned up that the whole thing was a fake, even though they claimed it was done for their employers, Saatchi & Saatchi. Stupid, but no worse than all those pseudo ads for Mongolian take-away's and tatoo parlors that run in dumb publications like Lurzer's Archive. Most of which have English headlines, even though they run in Outer Mongolia, or Herzegovina.
It'll probably win a Gold Lion at Cannes!
