Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

I must say, today’s word that the Interactive Advertising Bureau has chosen ad and media columnist Randall Rothenberg to be their next CEO as they get deeper and deeper into the murky waters of multi-media, struck me as one of the best pieces of news I’ve heard in a long time. I’ve always been a big fan of Randall’s since he wrote the New York Time’s ad column for so many years (of which today’s version is a very pale reflection) and especially since he wrote “Where the suckers moon.” One of the best books illustrating the insanity of the agency business ever written. Apparently, Rothenberg, who will replace longtime president and CEO Greg Stuart, was chosen from an extensive list of contenders and was “Made an offer he couldn’t refuse!” Good for him. I shall be following his activities in the future.
