For those of you on this side of the pond who are not cricket fans, it should be explained that for the last couple of weeks England and Australia have been engaged in what is known as “The Battle For The Ashes.” This happens every four years or so when the respective countries battle it out for the “Trophy” which is a bit of an old tin can filled with the ashes that resulted when the wickets were burned after England lost for the first time in a hundred years or so… They’ve lost every series since. Anyway… It always produces a ton of TV ads that run during the series… My favorites are the ones done for Marston’s beer featuring classic clips of cricket matches showing Australian batters taking a direct hit “down under” from fast balls. Best of all is the tag line for the series… “Ball-tampering - Marston style!” I’ll see if I can find and post some of these memorable moments. Oh, just did. Here they are. Check out the announcer’s final line… Ooooh, you Pommy barstard!!!
