Hello... Hello... Don't give out your phone number in China!

Ya havta love the news just in from China that a man who received thousands of text messages when his mobile phone number was accidentally used in a TV series has been awarded compensation. Seems like Chen Bing's number had been read out very slowly on a television series so another character could write it down. Then his phone's inbox was flooded with thousands of nuisance text messages from strangers starting in July 2004. In the end, an increasingly infuriated Mr Chen had more than 3,000 texts in his in-box, some from a New Jersey boiler room selling hedge funds, some from lawn care services, some from Nigerian Princes in need of your bank account number so they could transfer several millions of dollars in unclaimed funds… But mostly just the same old escort services and pornography. Anyway, the good news is that Mr. Chen has now won a judgment against the TV Company… And they now have to pay him…. $250 in damages… That’s right $250! Wonder how many zeros you could tack onto the end of that if it had happened in the US?
