Today’s “MediaPost” has a piece by Manning Field that had a couple of interesting points. He did blow me away though with his opening paragraph… “I'll assume that most of the readers of this column have high-def TVs in their homes. I have three in mine, and I'm pretty sure that I need more.” Wow, and I don’t even have one… Is he trying to make me feel guilty here? But he goes on to make sense about the need for more content, better standards, and a good look at a two tiered pricing structure. I also like his parting shot… “Sunday NFL countdown: I could fix the plaster crack in my daughter's bedroom with Chris Berman's pancake makeup.” Sounds like that recent piece in the New York Times about how various porn stars cellulite and skin blemishes are not too attractive in Hi-Def, warranting remedial cosmetic action! But what I find funny about the whole thing is that every time I go back to England, the regular TV picture there (which transmits a higher line signal) looks as good as the expensive HDTV here.

OK, how do you shoot a TV spot showing HDTV gives you a better picture without showing the spot on a HDTV?
