Great news just in from the UK… Fuller's London Pride (a very fine traditional British beer) has signed a six-figure, three-year deal to become the official beer of the London Marathon. The beer will have rights to use the London Marathon logo on all advertising and point-of-sale material. It will also position branded perimeter boards at the start and finish of the race as well as key points along its route. OK… But, here’s the really important question… Will all the watering stations now become “Beering” stations? If so, I’m in training immediately. Then as expected, we get a lame statement from London Marathon race director David Bedford denying that linking the race with alcohol was irresponsible. "While we would not necessarily recommend a beer as part of a marathon runner's training regime, London Pride is the best thing with which to celebrate your achievement," he said. How about before and during, I say? I mean, no one could complain if Bud Light or any of the other American light beers sponsored a marathon. I mean, it’s just like drinking water, isn’t it?
