What with all the hoopla about the current multi-functionality of cell phones and how we can download movies, TV shows, Music etc, etc, news today that really makes sense of cell phone functionality, rather than merely being another application that gets in the way of making phone calls. Delivering his State of the City address at the New York City College of Technology this week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced plans to allow 911 call centers to receive digital photos and videos from callers. "This year, we'll begin a revolutionary innovation in crime-fighting: Equipping 911 call centers to receive digital images and videos New Yorkers send from cell phones and computers, something no other city in the world is doing," Bloomberg said. "If you see a crime in progress or a dangerous building condition you'll be able to transmit images to 911, or online to NYC.GOV.” With over half the world's 741 million cell phones equipped with some kind of camera, a 911 network through which you can send digital images seems a great idea. Witness a crime; snap a photo; send it to 911. Kudos to

And the guy who stole your car was nearly bald, had wire spectacles and wore a black polo neck sweater. Yeah, he looks suspicious to me!
