Now that most of the BS about the Super Bowl spots has died down, I still haven’t worked out who won… I mean for best received TV spot… Not the game. I think I passed out after half time with a combination of boredom and drink. The one major mystery seems to be the Nationwide spot featuring Britney Spears soon to be ex… KFed, or Kevin Federline to old grumps like me. Some say it was a huge hit, others say it was a flop. The whole point of the commercial was that after twenty seconds of super stardom, he wakes up from his dream and he’s working in a fast food joint. Which isn’t a bad idea. But, as it had been pre-screened for weeks prior to the game… Where was the surprise ending? Same with many of the other spots, including the CGC Doritos stuff and that awful “Mapasaurus” embarrassment. It’s dumb. Just think… If Apple had spent the last three months of 1983 running the 1984 Mac launch spot prior to the game… Would it have had the same amazing effect… Not in a million years.
.
Kevin Federline... Yeah, I used to know him. I think he works at McDonalds now!

George around this hovel not one of the commercials drew any raves, ok maybe a coule or groans during the game. I spent most of yesterday (Tuesday) with a bunch of marketing and advertising types at the University of Nebraska and neither the game or the commercials were brought up. The funeral must have been Monday.
