Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

I was interested to read on Caffeine Marketing that Apple’s “PC vs Mac” TV commercials are #1 on AdCracker.com’s annual list of the world’s most creative ads. Mmmm, I thought, impressive… But just who the heck is AdCracker? Turns out it’s some outfit in California that makes software to help you create brilliant ads. Headed up by “International Award-Winning Creative Director” Steve McNamara, you just plug in a CD and within minutes you’ve got a Cannes Gold Lion Winner. Great… Oh, and those awards… It seems that all the people who bought the software get to vote. The problem I have with that is that if they need this AdCracker to create ads, what makes them think they’ll know a good ad when they see one? Just a thought!
