Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

OK… That’s enough… It would seem that Masterfoods' Super Bowl ad, which shows two men eating a single Snickers bar from either end and accidentally "kissing," backfired when complaints led the company to withdraw the spot. Apparently, according to the New York times, Masterfoods received complaints from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign. The groups claimed that the commercial was homophobic. Masterfoods also took down related material on its website, AftertheKiss.com. I happened to watch this spot during a “Super Bowl Party” with several gay and lesbian friends in attendance… And they all thought it was quite funny. The only dumb part was in the spot when they ripped their fake chest hair off. ‘C’mon… Aren’t we beyond this? Particularly from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance. Lighten up guys and gals… It’s just a stupid, dumb commercial. No one in their right mind pays attention to that crap!
