Seems like "The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine" wants to put the lid on all those "Cheesy" ads aimed at kids. They want the FTC to ban cheese advertising during children's TV shows. If they could actually pull this off... Rather doubtful, if you ask me... It could cost media and agencies tens of million of dollars in dairy product advertising, which is currently hitting kids over the head with everything from pizza to sharp cheddar to that string stuff kids love. Apparently,
Cheddar cheese gets about 73% of its calories from fat, and so is not an acceptable food to be promoted to kids during an obesity epidemic. It's already happened over the pond, where in the United Kingdom, cheese and other fatty foods were recently banned from British kids TV. As usual, the food industry is trying to get out in front of regulators with voluntary guidelines. Which based on all the other "voluntary" guidelines I've ever seen... Means no guidelines!
