
It’s funny how movie advertising works. Remember all the hype about “Snakes on the Plane?” Tons of pre-release publicity and advertising, but it bombed. In spite of the blood, horror and shock you would have expected to make it a hit, it quickly fizzled and died. So now, we have “Grindhouse” hitting the theaters this week, and signs are it will be “Boffo” as they say in show biz. Perhaps that’s because it’s a joint venture of Gore Meisters Quentin Tarentino and Robert Rodriguez, who between them have decapitated more thespians than the Phantom of the Opera. Word is that it puts their previous efforts to shame in the blood and guts category. Or as one critic puts it… “Transports you to the outer limits of creative schlock."
