Further proof this week of how most people in politics are clueless when it comes to PR and communications. I was wondering what had happened to Karen Hughes, Bush's Director of Public Diplomacy and Communications, since she went to Saudi Arabia Last year and told a bunch of Saudi women America wanted to bring them the freedom to be able to drive Humvees without getting the gear shift tangled up in their burquas. And to keep in mind that Bush was a man of God (that's diplomatic code for Crusader.) Anyway, she's been awfully quiet for a long time. But, she popped up in the news at the end of this week. Seems like she's given up on the Middle East (Hasn't anyone with half a brain?) And is now shifting her attention a few thousand miles West. She met with a bunch of Pacific Island leaders to tell them the US wants to help them empower the disadvantaged members of their societies and in particular improve the status of women. Wow... Don't these people ever learn to keep their mouths shut? Maybe the Pacific people would like a few references from Iraq before they commit to any of Ms Hughes programs.

Everything down here is fine... Just fine.
