
One of the things in my last post about the media’s infatuation with Paris Hilton that seems to have grabbed many readers attention is the mention she made of not reading most of the things she’s given to sign. To me this is symptomatic of the general dumbing down of people through the way media now presents its content. An early example of this was the introduction of USA Today a few years ago… Everything is in bite sized chunks so that, like fast food it can be “consumed” on the run. Most TV news is now presented that way. An even more ominous sign of things continuing to go down hill was when Rupert Murdoch announced his bid to take over the Wall Street Journal; he was asked what he thought of the current content of that august old newspaper. He replied that he thought the news articles were too long and he rarely finished reading them. One can only assume that if he does manage to buy it, like his
