If, like me, you’ve wondered why there is such an obsession with celebrity in this country, to the point were massive amounts of media coverage is lavished on people of miniscule, if any, talent… Today’s news that Paris Hilton is backing an online petition seeking a pardon of her 45-day prison sentence because she enlivens "mundane" lives should provide conclusive proof that something is rotten in the state of celebrity. In a message on a MySpace website, Ms Hilton apparently endorsed the online appeal, saying: "My friend Joshua started his petition, please help and sign it. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!" The petition paints Ms Hilton as a role model who "provides hope for young people all over the

Paris "Provides Hope" by offering to pay for lunch! But check out the stuff in her right hand...
She could enliven my "Mundane" life with that slab of $20 bills!

Right there with you...here is a fun edited version of the Paris Petition
To:
The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Paris Whitney Hilton is an continuing tumor on the body American. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton; evidently this makes her exempt from punishment for breaking the law. Her acts of dislain for the rule of Law act as a terrible role model for young people all over the U.S. and the world.
Hilton's fifteen minutes of fame for her leading roles on the FOX reality series The Simple Life and in the remake of the Vincent Price horror classic "House of Wax" have almost expired . In addition to her work as an actress, she has achieved some recognition as a model, celebrity spokesperson, singer, and writer; bad recognition as she is considered the Sanjia of the fashion world. Her music, only surpassed by William Shatner's 1978 rendition of "Rocket Man", would be considered "cruel and unusual punishement" and can't even be used against terrorist prisoners down at Gitmo.
As most of America now knows, Ms. Hilton was just charged in a Los Angeles court with DUI and sentenced to 45 days in Century Regional Detention Facility in California beginning on or before June 5, 2007. This is a good thing.
We, the American public who detest Paris, are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has attempted to user her fleeting celebrety to get out of her Drunk Driving charge. We fully support Drunk Driving or DUI charges and punishments. Paris should have been sober. But she wasn't so she should go to jail.
This petition is to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to ensure that Paris Hilton pays for her crime. Please don't allow her to her return to her career. "Everyone makes mistakes. She didn't hurt or kill anyone, and she has learned her lesson. She is sincere, apologetic, and full of regret for her actions as she explained tearfully to the Judge handling her case in court yesterday. She is distraught and understandably afraid." I'd be afraid too if I was a person of no social value who consistantly makes fun of "poor people" and has had several years worth of reality shows glorying her distain of normal blue-collar Americans. Being put in lockup with a bunch of the 'great unwashed' would friggin terrify me.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to keep Paris at the Century Regional Detention Facility! Please forward this email to everyone so that the The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of the State of California, will be cognizant of the welfare of our young people as they view what happens to this person who has made a mortal error and deserves to be punished like so many others in our great nation have been punished after breaking the law.
Respectfully, the undersigned
