Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

I have to love the way the US press made a big brouhaha about the fact that Helen Mirren, who played the Queen in the movie “The Queen,” was supposed to have snubbed Her Royal Highness by refusing a dinner invitation at Buckingham Palace earlier this month. The fact that she was on location shooting a movie in North Nebraska at the time, and apart from shutting down a multi-million dollar production for a few days, it would have involved sledding in from BumFuck, North Nebraska, then spending a few dozen hours on an airplane for the pleasure of sixty minutes breaking bread with “Her Holiness,” it didn’t seem to mean a great deal to the media hacks responsible for writing all this dreck on a daily basis. And, these are the same people who would sell their first born for the chance of an invite to nibble crust less cucumber sandwiches, whilst sipping their Earl Grey tea, on the back lawn of ‘Buck House!”
