I've posted in the past, both here and on my other blogs about the descent into childishness of most of CP+B's recent TV work, with the latest example being the Burger King campaign for the Western Whopper, or whatever it's called. So, I was amused to come across this letter on one of the marketing web sites... I've never understood the appeal of Burger King's King, and I'm completely disgusted by the new ad campaign [showing a series of women growing moustaches after eating the Western Whopper]. I realize they're supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, but they gross me out! These ads will not prompt me to run out and try the Western Whopper. Did they do any testing to see how these ads would play to the public? Maybe I'm just not their target audience. It's a good thing, too, because I'll be changing the channel any time these ads run. The lady has a point, and certainly expesses it. As usual, all the burgers shown are at least ten times the one's you actually get for your money. The tag line is pathetic... "Feel your inner cowboy!" And most of the spots are soporific. Apart from that, everything else sucks.
.
Yeah, you might get a moustache, but you won't get a burger that big!
