Having just posted on the US media coverage of the recent G 8 Summit and the intrusion of the return of Paris Hilton to jail as the lead in story to all the network's evening news programs... I do have to say that trivia is increasingly becoming a huge part of US network news. Apart from the fact that all the morning shows tell you twelve hours in advance what is going to be featured on that evenings news program, which obviously means it cannot possibly be "News," there is almost no coverage of world events, with even the continuing loss of life in Iraq popping up for a few seconds every few days or so when we pass some ever increasing number of dead US soldiers... What is most egregious to me is the huge proportion of these broadcasts that's are devoted to medical matters. So, why am I not surprised that most of the advertising on these travesties of News shows is devoted to medical products and drugs? OK, time to get back to Paris being hustled off to the pokie!
