Taking in the US Media coverage of the recent G 8 Summit, apart from listening to the "Commander Guy" describe Vladymir Putin as "Put'n" or later in the same press conference as "My Pal Vladm'r,' who I hope will not now be categorized in the same bracket as "Vlad The Impaler." Did anyone else notice how the US media never stopped falling all over Bono, super rock star, savior of the planet and the guy committed to feeding the starving of Africa? All worthy causes indeed, but the thing is, having just returned from England and watched the coverage of the G 8 Summit over there, I was struck by the fact that the majority of the European media concentrated just as equally on the efforts of Bob Geldorf, another aging rock star, who has actually been doing a great deal more for the oppressed of the world for far longer than Bono. He just doesn't have the same funky sunglasses as Bono and hasn't snagged the same "Photo-Op's" with the "Great Decider" as media rock star Bono. But having just watched the return of Paris Hilton to jail as the lead in story to all the network's evening news programs... Why am I not surprised?
.
None of these is Bono or Geldorf. The third on the left is "NoDorf."
