I've never understood the obsession most athletic shoe companies have with their "Star Player" endorsement deals. For every Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan, it seems there's an ever increasing number of thugs, hoodlums and sex maniacs who seem to think that their prowess on the field for a few minutes once a week and their multi-million dollar salaries give them the right to act like pigs. Today's news that Michael Vick's legal troubles have prompted Nike to suspend the release of its latest product line named after the Atlanta Falcons quarterback... Says to me... Serves them right for throwing millions at the purported leader of a dog fighting operation. Maybe they'd come off looking better if they took the money and used it to pay their "Offshore" workers a decent wage. But no, they'll probably throw it at some other Bozo who'll ultimately end up in jail.

You might not be seeing this for a while!

Well said, George. Celebrity endorsements can be a dangerous thing, and companies certainly don't seem to be doing their due diligence when they select a celebrity to endorse their products. I agree that money could be used better elsewhere in the marketing plan.
