So the big news today is that Fred Thompson will take part in his first debate. Even though he's been questioned recently about his seeming lack of both knowledge and interest about what is taking place in the world around him... It seems as if all he has to do is play the role he does on "Law & Order" and he'll be home clear. A kind of Reagan Lite. Although in the early days of his first term "The Gipper' came across as pretty clueless. Still I guess in American politics, substance comes a long way behind image when it comes to winning over the party faithful, and then the general population. What has TV done to us?
