It doesn't seem to be enough that Facebook enjoy's a stratospheric valuation since Microsoft bought a tiny share of the company, now with their "Facebook Ad Initiative," they are claiming Facebook users will appreciate the fact that they'll be seeing advertisements catering specifically to their interests and showcasing recommendations from their friends. Founder Mark Zuckerberg says "It seems like people prefer targeted ads. They just perform way better. The point that we're trying to make is that it's way more organic and natural." What he doesn't mention is the risk that because all this depends on viral distribution, it can backfire if it gets heavy handed and in-your-face. We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, I'm sure the "Viral" value of the company will continue to soar.
I did say "In-your-face!"
