Couldn’t help laughing when I read in AdWeek that UberScam consultancy Pile and Co. and its Communications Collaborative freelance staffing division have launched the “In-House Agency Forum, a professional membership organization that supports the directors and managers of in-house marketing agencies.” Whatever that means? Well, in the words of Chris Colbert, managing partner of Pile and Co. It means "We believe that the increasing complexities in the marketing communications world are requiring the in-house agency to play an even more integral role in go-to-market programming." Sorry Chris, still don’t know what you’re talking about. All I can say is that based on the awful in-house agencies I’ve had the misfortune to freelance for, and with the list of the Forum's board of directors including senior in-house agency executives from BJ's Wholesale Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CVS, Monster.com, MFS, Putnam Investments and TJX Cos., I wouldn’t look for any breakthrough creative work in the near future. ![]()
