AdHurl... The Official Blog of Official Blogs!

I am always amused when I read that some food/drink/car/acne cream or whatever is now the official food/drink/car/acne cream of some sporting event or sports team. Does this really make fans buy stuff, because it’s official? The reason I ask is because today’s BrandWeek informs us that Chef One Dumplings are now the Official Dumplings of New York’s Brooklyn Cyclones, the farm team of the NY Mets. As part of the deal, Chef One will distribute samples of their dumplings, hold 'dumpling nights' and dumpling eating contests. I mean, how do you eat a dumpling at a ball park…On a stick? Still, not as dumb as Bud paying $50 million to become the Official Beer of the World Cup in Germany, when every German in the country has gone on record as saying it’s undrinkable and only fit for washing cars.4038.jpg

But, you might be interested in some dumplings!

Its official, Germans recommend your wash your car in beer!

Our ballpark here in San Diego is called "Petco Park" which I think is a pretty cheezy name for a ballpark... If they're going to name a place after a pet company, they should at least let pets come to the game too!

George, I agree that the sponsorship itself is quite retarded, but I feel you are ignoring the hefty benefits of the sponsorship package that you cite (samples, etc.)

I wrote an in-depth response to you but cannot figure out how to use trackback pings (sorry, I'm a bit new to this) so you can read my post here:

I think the Chef One Sponsorship with the Brooklyn Cyclones is a wonderful thing. Chef One, a fresh made in Brooklyn product is tasy, healthier than a hot dog, easy to eat with a fork and since the Asian community is one of the fastest growing in the US why doesn't it make sense to introduce "Mericans" to this wonderful product. Now Bud in Germany is a stretch, but Made in Brooklyn Dumplings, served at Keyspan, a touch of marketing genius..dla
