
I am always amused when I read that some food/drink/car/acne cream or whatever is now the official food/drink/car/acne cream of some sporting event or sports team. Does this really make fans buy stuff, because it’s official? The reason I ask is because today’s BrandWeek informs us that Chef One Dumplings are now the Official Dumplings of New York’s Brooklyn Cyclones, the farm team of the NY Mets. As part of the deal, Chef One will distribute samples of their dumplings, hold 'dumpling nights' and dumpling eating contests. I mean, how do you eat a dumpling at a ball park…On a stick? Still, not as dumb as Bud paying $50 million to become the Official Beer of the World Cup in Germany, when every German in the country has gone on record as saying it’s undrinkable and only fit for washing cars.![]()
