What I love about all the claptrap concerning viral, buzz, word-of-mouth, hip-hop, gangsta and every other form of new media bs we keep hearing about is that even though it's all about the viewer taking control… It rarely seems to work out that way. Take for instance the latest flavor-du-jour, CGC, or “Consumer-Generated-Content.” The stuff you find all over YouTube. Google announced today a program that will give videographers a cut of the advertising revenue generated by their videos. But… And it’s a big but… Googles "Sponsored Video" program isn't exactly for everyone. According to its terms, you need to provide more than 1,000 hours of video to participate, which sounds to me like they only want to deal with professional shooters. So, maybe from now on we can assume that CGC doesn’t mean “Consumer Generated Content”… It now means “Company Generated Content!”![]()
I've actually only shot about 999 hours of video concerning me and this doll fetish I have!
