
In a further demonstration of “Corporate Speak,” Ford today said it is selling Aston Martin, but will retain a share worth $77 million. A British investment group bought the marque, part of Ford’s so-called Premier Auto Group that also includes Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo. Here’s the “GarbleSpeak” part… "The sale of Aston Martin supports the key objectives of the company, to restructure to operate profitably at lower volumes and changed model mix and to speed the development of new products," Alan Mulally, Ford's CEO said in a written statement. "From Aston Martin's point of view, the sale will provide access to additional capital, which will allow Aston Martin to continue the growth it has experienced under Ford's stewardship. Hi, George! While I agree with you that the double-speak is traditional "corporate speak" for we're gonna do what we wanna do, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead type decisions, I disagree with your comment that no one wants to buy Ford trucks or cars. Okay, so maybe the Ford Freestyle isn't as flashy as the Aston Martin pictured. But having learned to drive on a Ford F-250, and having been the proud owner of a Ford F-150 (and an Explorer, with the ex-spouse), I have to say that *in my opinion* Ford trucks are fantastic. Love 'em. The only reason I "gave up" my F-150 was to upgrade to an Expedition due to the impending growth of our family. I know, I know, it's just my opinion and everyone has one...but I'd never even consider a different truck.
