As a follow on to my post of yesterday regarding the British Labor party’s leap into the Blogosphere via YouTube with a very zombie like performance by Tony Blair, I was intrigued by the hundreds of news reports popping up over the last 24 hours that “US Presidential Candidates Can Interact With the Public Through Online Video.” Closer inspection of the news reveals that the so-called “interaction” is somewhat lacking in what I have always considered the vital “Inter” part. Apparently Presidential wannabes will post videos on YouTube’s News and Politics site. Anyone with absolutely nothing better to do than watch these travesties of communication can then post their own video response. Sounds like an even worse experience than the early days of video conferencing. Remember all those annoying time lags between video and audio. This time it wont be a couple of seconds, it’ll be hours or days between the same trite sound bites of the politicos followed by the fawning of fans, or the "Rush" type rants of opponents. And I always thought “Interaction” took place via a dialogue. Oh well, I’m sure neither side will have anything to say that’ll be remotely worth listening to.
