As a follow on to my piece earlier today about the news that Miller and Coors are forming a joint venture to take on Anheuser-Busch's dominance of the US beer market, it was interesting to come across some current industry information. The beer market, as a whole, has been taking a nosedive compared to spirits and wine sales, but those numbers are skewed. The top three — Anheuser, Miller and Coors — make up around 90% of the market. Sales from these three have dropped like a lead balloon in the past decade or so. But the story doesn’t stop there. Craft beer sales are up 31.5% over the past three years and are only going higher. Which signifies to me that people are looking for something that pleases your taste buds, rather than beer from the big three, which is only fit for washing your car.
It made me what I am today!
