On today's Internet Evolution, computer security expert Kevin Mitnick predicts that, based on the government's current abuse of warrantless surveillance, we can expect invasions of private property to be conducted by government robots within the next twenty years. In his blog, "Warrantless Surveillance - the Worst Is Yet to Come," Mitnick says the current administration is defending its position to wiretap any U.S. citizen without court authority and without any oversight by claiming that the wireless surveillance is being monitored by computers running artificial intelligence software, not by human beings. And, this current abuse of technology, claims Mitnick, will only get worse. As technology advances, so does the potential for that technology to be abused by authority, says Mitnick. "Within two decades, a President or his/her designees will legitimize the warrantless search of private property, using a robot instead of human beings to conduct the search." A spine chilling read... Well worth the effort.
George Orwell would have been proud!
