I must say, I find it a tad disturbing to read in the current issue of Ad Age that Hillary Clinton "Earns Points for Pennsylvania Tactics." According to one of the pundits, Mr. Obama's biggest problem was not adequately countering Ms. Clinton's "one of the boys" message. Oh, please give me a break, doing shots in a local bar does not make someone "one of the boys" it makes them a panderer of the worst kind. I have devoted a complete chapter in my next book "The Ubiquitous Persuaders" to the subject of US political advertising and how increasingly corrupt it is becoming compared to the rest of the civilized world. I really believe it is the fault of the ad biz that American politics is so bad... It's all about raising money, because you have to spend massive amounts on primarily TV advertising for months before the actual election. Why not do as most of the rest of the world does and limit adverting to party political messages for no more than a few minutes a week, and then for a maximum of six weeks before the election... OK, I know that wouldn't solve all the problems, but it would be a great beginning! Nahhh... I know, there's no chance of that ever happening!
And now an un-paid word from our un-biased, heavily paid and biased political sponsor... Fox News!
